Praveen Ali is a Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She is also a registered nurse, a registered nurse teacher and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Her research explores gender-based violence, especially intimate partner violence from the perspective of victims and perpetrators. She has been involved in several national and international research projects and has published over 30 papers on the subject in peer review journals.
In 2015, she was awarded the Mary Seacole Leadership Award, allowing her to explore the importance of language concordant communication from the perspective of bilingual nurses.
Praveen was named an emerging nurse researcher by the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International for the impact she has made on the profession.
