Allan Pacey is a world-renowned expert on fertility. His groundbreaking research has captured the world’s imagination through films such as The Great Sperm Race (Channel 4) and The Truth About Food (BBC 2).
In 2014, he was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in recognition of his pioneering research into this subject area over the past 20 years. In January 2016, he was recognised in the New Years Honours List.
During his career, he has written 137 papers on groundbreaking research into many aspects of male fertility. These have included how sperm function inside the human body; the impact of sexually transmitted infections on sperm, such as Chlamydia; and fertility issues in men diagnosed with cancer (oncofertility).
As professor of Andrology, he also directs a pioneering masters course in science communication.
